Six years into her career, Victoria Hesketh still sounds like an ecstatic newcomer. “It’s like being a completely new
artist,” the British singer, who performs as Little Boots, says of her post-major label life, in which she at long last has
“complete creative control.” “It’s amazingly liberating,” she explains when she calls ELLE.com from the L.A. recording
studio where she’s putting the finishing touches on her forthcoming third full-length LP.
The self-professed lover of all things pop music is also counting the days until the release of her new Business
Pleasure EP (due on December 2nd), which features the bouncy lead single “Taste It,” a commentary on
society’s frivolous obsessions that recalls M.I.A. by way of Grimes (a singer she name-checks as one of

visual treats. “We wanted it to be this drawn-out reveal that’s crazy and colorful,” she says of the collaboration with
director Ish Sahotay, which is a non-stop visual barrage of plastic surgery, stimulants, and fast food.
“If you had told me [a few years ago that] I was going to be directing my videos I would have said ‘No way!
I have no idea where to even start,'” the singer says with a laugh.
“But you amaze yourself what you can do if you’re motivated and confident and in control of things.”
